We have a good adult:child ratio (in excess of the statutory requirements), which we feel helps to develop good relationships with all our children, making settling in much easier.
Our recruitment process complies with all legal requirements, and all our staff have DBS disclosures and references to ensure they are suitable to work with young children.
Our Senior staff have the relevant qualifications, and have allocated responsibilities, these being : Child protection – Supervisor, SENCO – Our Qualified Assistant, Mrs Garner, whilst our Deputy Supervisor has responsibility for Equal Opportunities and Behaviour Management. We encourage all staff to hold current first aid certificates, all have been on child protection training and are encouraged to keep up to date with their skills to provide the best care and education for our children.
To provide more personal support for our children we have a key-person system in place. The children are allocated to their key-person prior to starting at St. Mary’s, and key-people will liaise with parents/carers to ensure the child is reaching their full potential, sharing their child’s personal folder on request, and actively encouraging parental participation in their child’s development. The Supervisor oversees the whole programme and is always available to answer any queries parents may have.
